When watching a film that has been adapted from a novel to television, it's almost impossible to include every detail the book does. On rare occasions the books are given great adaptations. This is one of them. As a child when this first came out I loved it. Thne idea of a maniac clown killing little children was a bit frightening, especially for TV(it was a TV mini-series). Tim Curry showed the range of his acting talents when he did this(if we already didn't know from The Rocky Horror Picture Show)and many other new and old faces were shown.
Tommy Lee Wallace who directed the film, enjoyed the film, but was disappointed with the look of It's true form(with good reason, ughh terrible look). Jonathan Brandis and John Ritter who have since passed away do incredible jobs in this film. The rest of the cast are just fantastic.
Authors like Stephen King and Anne Rice should ONLY get mini-series to adapt their books(althought the Theatrical Versions of Carrie and The Dead Zone did a lot better than the mini-series versions).
Anyway, if you haven't seen this film, it is available on DVD with commentary(one John Ritter participated on)and is most definately worth just buying, no renting.
Enjoy....We all float down here...
