NoCountry for Old Men

I just saw the video of No Country for Old Men, which I had eagerly anticipated since it won the Oscar. I didn't like it. It seemed like pointless violence to me. The "message" of "it's a bad world" is a cliche. The hero wasn't a good guy, since he stole money, and the villain was a dissapointment to me. Javier Bardem's acting was very one note. Where was there any range to deserve an acting award? Of course the ending is also unfullfilling. We are shown every other murder (and I was tempted to keep a tally - now that's how many dead bodies?), but not shown the important ones of characters we have come to know. The fact that as a country we went ga-ga over this movie shows we've become completely enamored of senseless violence parading as art. I'm disappointed.
