"Well, you know sometimes when the trailer is so good your expectations get raised so high, then when you see the actual movie, it is a huge anti-climax. Well this one was sort off like that for me. The good thing was I could take my little girl with me as it was only PG and that was a treat but and yes there is a but....I expected this hell funny romantic comedy and it was more like a life drama that brought me a little down. You associate the cast with comedy and the trailer certainly reinforced that idea, but if you want a laugh, steer clear! The main character was the dog Marley, if you are really into dogs you will find this movie charming, it is charming. What really struck me was how different people make different life choices, there are the ones, that chose the responsible root and stick to it no matter what the cost, you know, sacrifice the one (usually yourself) in order to save the whole, should it come to that and it almost always does! Life is compromise. Then there are those individuals that keep on giving themselves second chances and put themselves above all ells, which is healthy for self preservation I suppose but when do you stop choosing yourself!!! And the prize for choosing one self is ultimately loneliness and regret! Or is it?"

" I have Marley & Me as a drama because if you saw the movie, there's no way you didn't leave crying. The trailers and even the movie cover make it look cute and cuddly but it is only is up to the last 30 minutes. I wouldn't call a movie about life changes that a young couple go through a movie for the whole family anyway.

Sure the dog is cute but he's just a supporting character. He's a wild but also sensitive and caring dog that gives Owen Wilson's character inspiration for his newspaper articles. He'll keep the kids entertained and they'll love him, which is exactly why you shouldn't take them to see it or rent it when it hits dvd. Why take them to see it if you have to take them out of the theater the last minutes or have them crying all day if you don't.

It would have been a good family film if it wasn't for the last 30 minutes. I still liked the movie though even if the last 30 minutes got to me emotionally as well. Owen Wilson I think did his best work. Jennifer Aniston was good as well. It's a well made movie about life changes through the years that a young married couple go through. It's not for the whole family just because there's a cute dog. If you want a movie for the whole family, then rent Nim's Island. "

"This movie was not as good as i expected it to be. It had a few funny or cute parts but way to many things that made you cry. I think that was the whole point is to make people cry their eyes out because that's what it did for me and definetly not a very good family film becase it contained lots of bad language and things that kids shouldn't see. But it just wasn't very good at all!!!

Maybe if you are about 13 or up then it wouldn't be so bad but little brother and sister hated it soo much and they are 5 + 8"

"This is one of those movies that you just forget about the problems a movie has, and just enjoy it. "Marley & Me" was one of the best movies I've seen recently and the most genuine. It's story is remarkable- it's here to tell you a story, not just provide you with cool action or funny character- it's here to teach you lessons, and provide you with the most touching, heartwarming story there is... about a bond between people and their dogs. The story is emotional, heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny, and loving. It has so much to tell and the movie version of "Marley & Me" tells it quite well. Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson have a perfect, new and unique chemistry that gives the audience the correct amount of believability that occurs in a REAL relationship, not just a couple that looks pretty together. I've never read the book of "Marley & Me", but I'm sure the book is just as amazing. For those that have read the book, the movie will suit you just as well because it takes you through the live events that occur in the life of a family with a dog. It's mostly hilarious all throughout the film- but it's the end that's tremendous. The end is the story of it's own- it truly the masterpiece of the whole film. This film will move you to tears- I looked back at the audience at the very end, and almost every single person was dabbing at their eyes crying. It certainly will make you go home to your pet, with more love than ever before. Even for people who don't have pets, they will still be able to enjoy this movie and love it for what it is- the common love between animals and their owners. It's so beautiful, and worth every cent I paid for it. "

Puppy Love!

Animals can bring out the best in people. Others may have trouble trying to cope with Fido. Family friendly 20th Century Fox last year brought filmgoers the big screen version of The Chipmunks, the holiday season’s runaway success. Odds are good that this year’s offering, Marley & Me, will bring Yultetide cheer for children, animal lovers and people of all ages. Dogs of all breeds will likely earn the respect of all movie goers at Scotiabank Theatre, Oakridge Cinemas, Empire Studio 12, Colossus and Famous Players Silver City cites around B.C.

Not everyone is suited to look after an animal. Struggles to train an animal often go both ways. For John and Jennifer Grogan getting a new puppy is supposed to help cement their new born relationship. Recently married the loving couple are missing one key ingredient: children. So instead of making that major decision today the pair opts instead to adopt a dog. Call it preparation for children one day.

Cuddly and loveable best describes the Labrador puppy they name Marley. Unfortunately once the dog starts to grow both adults have some rather sizable discipline issues with their new co-habitant. House wrecker comes to mind when watching this dog go about his daily activities.

Both John and Jennifer are professional people and don’t really have a clue how to train this canine. Over time, however, the animal begins to bond with his handlers and vice versa. Anyone whose ever owned a pet and in particular a dog will be able to relate to the plight of its owners.

Shades of Bambi also come to fruition here as the scriptwriters have come up with a very good script showing the life cycle of a pet and how it affects a human family. Just what impact this wild beast has on the Grogans and their friends begins to cloud all aspects of their lives and both leads pull off the changes poignantly.

Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers) and Jennifer Aniston (Friends) are terrific as the dog’s owner with Alan Arkin (The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming) at his hammy best as John’s employer with enough one-liners to possibly steal the show away from these hot megastars. Look closely and you’ll be amazed to see a rather bloated Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone) come on strong as a dog trainer.

Director David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) here takes a simple story and manages to mould it into a wonderful tale about friendship, loyalty and sacrifice. Maybe that’s laying on the praises of this film just a bit too thick but the animals who play Marley through his life cycle are adorable and will have you eating out of his paw as the story unfolds.

Great for children, Marley & Me could well lead to an increase in puppy sales or further add to the love pet owners have for their favourite four legged family members.
